A Great Gatsby-themed prom was held at the Grand Cypress Hotel in Orlando on April 16, 2016.

The prom committee worked for hours to replicate the 1920s era with the decorations.

“I thought that prom this year was really well done,” said senior Julie Ellis. “I’ve heard of past years not being as great as this year so I’m glad I waited until senior year to go.”

Ellis found that prom was worth the cost.

“Even though the amount seniors have to spend on prom adds up, it was definitely worth it in the end,” Ellis said. “You only get one senior prom.”

Junior Emma Early commented on her prom experience.

“I had a great time in general,” Early said. “The food was amazing and was probably the best part of the night. I also went with a great date so I’m happy about how the night turned out.”

Senior Aaron Byington gives insight into the changes of prom from year to year.

“Last year, there were a lot of things that weren’t as great as this year’s prom,” Byington said. “The theme of this year’s prom was really fun and I think a lot of people wanted it to be that for a while. I also think the music was better this year and it seemed as though everyone had a better time this time around.”
