Charlotte Sladek, a graduating senior from Oviedo High School, has navigated their academic journey with grace and determination.

Throughout their high school journey, Charlotte immersed themselves not only in academic pursuits, but also in extracurricular activities that shaped their experience. They lent their musical talents to the school band, skillfully playing marimbas, and took on the role of director of projects in the Women in STEM Club, driven by a passion for uplifting women in the field.

Reflecting on their involvement, Charlotte expressed, “Honestly, it was really interesting. I loved being part of something that uplifts women, especially in this particular field.”

Kathy Savage, a beloved teacher at Oviedo High School, offered her insights into Charlotte’s journey and character. “Brilliant, funny, curious (her best trait in my opinion) and so kind.”

Sladek’s passion for their subjects, such as Bioscience, Chemistry, and Band at OHS, fueled their aspirations for the future. They aim to attend the University of Florida to major in Medical Devices and Health Research.

“I have no advice for Charlotte. She should have all the advice for me!” said Savage.

Savage also shared specific memories of working with Charlotte in the classroom.

“She can go through Petri dishes like nobody’s business and come up with experiments I haven’t even thought of,” she reminisced.

“Honestly, I’m just excited to embark on a new journey and start the next chapter of my life,” Sladek said.

As Sladek prepares to leave OHS, they look back fondly at the vibrant school spirit.

“The most important thing that I will miss is the spirit that has always given me that feeling of involvement with the school, and even more, the band,” Sladek said. “The football games and the pep rallies are my favorite memories of OHS.”

Looking forward to college life, Charlotte is brimming with excitement about the new challenges and experiences ahead.

As graduation nears, Sladek acknowledges mixed emotions: “I feel relieved, and sad at the same time. It’s really bittersweet. This really took a long while with much effort, but I finally made it.”
