On Jan. 21, boy’s varsity basketball went head-to-head against the Lake Brantley Patriots. In an intense game, the Lions fought until the very end.
“All the games on [our] schedule are muscle wins, but this one especially,” said Jordan Donahoo, a junior who plays forward.
Muscle wins are simply tough games that are usually close.
Regardless of the conditions, the team trained extremely hard for this game, as Lake Brantley had some tricks up their sleeve.
“They [the Patriots] plan a really good 1-3-1 zone which they are known for so we planned on facing that,” senior guard Conner Collins said.
The struggle of the game didn’t end there; there were issues outside of Lake Brantley’s smart game plan, and the training to prepare for it.
“The most difficult aspect of that game was we had players sick and injured that game so a lot of people had to step up,” sophomore point guard Eli Basili said.
The team is excited for the near future of this program in the next few games. They face Lake Howell tomorrow, Feb. 4.
“We as a team are very confident in these upcoming playoff games and we are ready to make a run,” Basili said.
The Lions are extremely hopeful having won this intense game 53-49
“We try to stay even and stay consistent at everything we do,” Donahoo said.
