University of Utah suffers after devastating loss of Aaron Lowe

Over the past few months, tragedies regarding football have occurred often. The University of Utah Football Program suffered the loss of defensive back Aaron Lowe. He was fatally shot on September 25th, 2021.

Lowe was murdered during a house party in Salt Lake City. Police state that they received a call at 10:30 PM, reporting loud noise.

Around two hours later, another call came in, reporting noise that seemed to have come from a weapon.

So far, no arrests have been made. 

“We are devastated to hear about the passing of Aaron Lowe,” said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. 

When asked about the impact of the shooting, Whittingham described how Lowe affected the team and others around him.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron’s family and friends, along with the other individual who was harmed in this tragic incident. Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother and son and was loved by anyone who crossed paths with him. He will be deeply missed.”

Utah players, students, and fans continue to reflect on his passing. A funeral has been planned, and ceremonies have been announced.

“We have been in communication with Aaron’s family and we are providing support to them, as well as to the student-athletes, coaches and staff in all of our athletics programs, and our focus will remain on them,” states Utah athletic director Mark Halan.

“Aaron was a terrific young man, a leader on our football team, and a rock of resiliency and courage.”
