Alumni vs. faculty game brings fun, competition
WEB EXCLUSIVE
For the first time, Oviedo High School hosted a Faculty vs. Alumni softball game to help raise money for the Oviedo softball team. The faculty put up a good fight, but the alumni came away with a win of 20-17.
“I had an absolute blast,” said principal Joseph Trybus. “It was so fun to get out there and to spend time with the alumni and faculty and staff in an informal setting and just having fun, laughing and joking.”
Although the game was all for fun, some got on the field wanting victory.
“I am super competitive,” said AP Spanish teacher Nadia Charcap. “I tend to get too into the game.”
There were also other positive outcomes that came along with the game.
“All the proceeds from ticket sales and concessions went to the softball team,” Trybus said.
It is unknown if a game like this will happen again next year to help support the girls’ softball team, but the participants hope so.
“I had such a fun time, and I fully support it,” Trybus said. “I hope we can have a second annual Faculty vs. Alumni softball game.”
