Social distancing can be hard in many ways. It has many pros and cons. But social distancing is important in this time of need, to stay healthy. If we all work together to stay home and stay healthy, we can get rid of any health threat. It can help us prevent people from being carriers of the new virus, COVID-19.

Technology can and will help all of us make this social distancing thing much easier if we all work together. There are ways to stay connected with your friends and family. Over time technology has been upgraded so now we can call, text or video chat anyone we know. Through any device, we can stay connected. You can plan times to connect with your friends and family. You have their phone number, email or you can even reach out on many social media platforms.

Schools have made it easier for students to get an education from home. Classes that you would take in a classroom are now online, and some classes are video calling, depending on the class.

I know social distancing is hard since we are always around people we care about and hang out with every day. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and social distancing is no joke. It is being recommended at this time because people are still doing things they shouldn’t be. The government wants everyone to stay healthy and social distancing is a practice that can easily save many lives in the long run.

Staying away from people you love and see every day is hard, but think about how it was for people infected with other viruses before this. During the 1980s there were people in their 20s to 40s dying from HIV and AIDS. In that time, medical treatments were unclear and many people didn’t know how to give people the medical care they needed. People were told to isolate, but without the technology we have now. They didn’t have what we have: a way to stay connected at the click of a mouse or the press of a button.

Social distancing is important to keep everyone healthy. Even though times are tough around the country, we can all stay in touch with any one of our friends and family due to the upgrades in technology. Take advantage and stay safe.
