A Dog’s Purpose revolves around the quest of Bailey–a dog who comes back to life over and over, living his life in different bodies–who constantly asks himself “who am I?” The movie shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.

A Dog’s Purpose mixes comedic tales (from the perspective of a dog) with tear-inducing scenes of real connection, highlighting the bonds humans form with their companions. Josh Gad, who voices Bailey, the main character of the story, highlights the innocence and purity of dogs with a happy, upbeat tone throughout the entire movie, even when things start to go in a bad direction.

If you are a dog owner, or merely love animals, this movie is will leave you in tears, and is something that you will remember. The movie is a must-see for dog owners and younger audiences, as the light humor, mixed with beautiful scenes of dogs, is a true masterpiece.

Unfortunately, a video released on TMZ mere weeks before the set release date of A Dog’s Purpose shows that animal abuse may have taken place on the set. The dog actor, a two-year-old German Shepherd by the name of Hercules, is seen to be possibly forced into the water unwillingly.

If true, this abuse would drastically ruin the message of the movie, which is about how dogs truly enrich the lives of their owners. According to telegraph.co.uk, the director disregards all these claims, and said he will get to the bottom of this issue.
